"Final" season prep

Got a lot accomplished this weekend.  The weather was perfect and we were able to do a huge amount of cleaning chores in the house and the garage, in addition to the kart stuff.  But we're all exhausted.  At least we got some down-time watching the 12 hours of Sebring and we got to Kieran's hockey party for pizza and wings (and Rita's for free water ice!).

Kieran's kart now has about 40 lbs of lead mounted in various locations, with another 10 or so to go.  Sal is trying to prep some lead to go into the frame rails, so we'll see how much we can get in there, then weigh it again.  That cadet will weigh almost as much as my shifter!

My throttle linkage is finished.

I created my solution for the spare tires/wheel in the trailer and it works like a charm.  About $6.  And we got some long skinny storage bins for the trailer, too, so now we can house everything in the trailer without stuff falling down and sliding all over.  Very happy here!

I ordered some pedals for Kieran's clone kart and I figured out a way to implement it last night, so now the seat doesn't need to come so far forward.  But I still need to get a few things welded onto the frame so we can reposition the throttle and mount the seat.  I'll try to ask Pete or Rob this week to get it done sometime soon.

Regarding the full-width bumpers, I found some kart shops online that are making steel rear bumpers for significantly less money than the plastic ones.  I placed an order with Full Bore Karting in NY and they were ~$150 shipped for our two.  I told Sal about this place for his and George's.  I should be talking to them this week to make sure they can do it relatively soon.  As soon as we get them (and get them mounted) we can go to Etown or NJMP to practice.
