Crunch time

Busy weekend, but the weather cooperated nicely.  All day Saturday the temps were in the 60s and 70s and all of our snow from last weekend melted away.  I spent the entire day outside working on the trailer (finished!), trying to properly bead the tires on the new wheels (only partially successful), and wiring the Lexus trailer lights.

The bead breaker I bought lasted approximately 2 minutes before the wheel post bent.  The person who is apparently building them was mounting the post on the top part of the lateral box instead of running it all the way through the box and welding both sides.  So as soon as you get a little slip of the wheel/tire laterally as you're pushing down, the post bends.  Trying to get my money back from that idiot so I can get an RLV breaker like I should have in the first place.

Sunday we had the 3rd Winter Series event, back at NJMP again.  Weather was perfect so we had a huge turnout of 123 drivers.  We split into 3 heats and still got 6 runs each.  In the Lexus the course wasn't particularly fun with the all-season tires.  Definitely need to look at some good summer tires for better grip - it's way too tail happy as is.

Next on the agenda: buy a MyChron for my kart, buy an RLV bead breaker, buy Kieran a nasal fairing, get the trailer registered.  I'll probably get Kieran another couple of the 4.5" x 5" wheels since the tires fit perfectly on them.  Then he could run them all around and we could rotate tires to all positions.
