Bad news for the Honda

Opened the motor today and immediately found that a part of the piston is missing in action and the cylinder wall is scored.  I have no idea where the missing piece is, either, so I'll keep my eyes open for it inside.  So I'll need a new piston and will need to get the cylinder replated.  I got referred to CKT in Chicago for the latter and I'm sure they'll be able to recommend a piston for me, too.  Now I need to get the head off and ready to ship.  So I think I'll sit out the last Philly event while Kieran tries to win his class.

On the other hand, I did manage to get Kieran some pieces for his kart for next season: axle, cassettes, floating sprocket holder, new brake disc hub.  Still need bearings for his and I think I want new ones for mine, too.  So with a new ignition, new bearings, and new head I should be well set for next season.  And Kieran's will be a monster next year.  I'm planning on getting his motor rebuilt sometime before Nationals next season, so probably after the Toledo Pro.  Walt Gifford said he would do it for us with about a 2 week turnaround.  Nice to save money on shipping it and having a local builder for that motor.
