2011 last hurrah

Jack was lucky and planned a perfect last hurrah - a practice and party day to celebrate the season.  November 26 and the temps shot into the mid-60s!  So I loaded up the  kart and we spent some quality time getting down there.  His motor was fine and had no problems at all this time.  They ran the Tempest track and I didn't regear the kart for the higher speeds.  Even so, Kieran watched and learned a lot about that track - especially turn 1 and the Boston Massacre section.  He was running about 48.5 sec laps by the end, which considering the gearing, was pretty good.  He still has some learning to do with pitching and catching, but the ball game will change next season with the change to the 40mm axle.  Hopefully that will lead to some positive changes for him.

For now, it's time to pull the motor and put it in the basement with mine and his other one.  At some point I'll switch the axles (my old one going onto his kart) with the new bearings, etc.  My cylinder is in Chicago getting replated and I need a new piston.  I will put the new stock ignition on and my motor will be ready for 2012.
